Maurice has been wanting me to bake him an angel food cake for quite some time. As in, 4 years. Apparently I baked a pretty mean cake back in 2005 and it’s been stuck in his mind ever since: angel food cake of light and fluffy deliciousness, served with both vanilla and raspberry sauces. Really not that difficult, right?
I got a little too confident, or maybe it was the wine, and
a) sprayed the pan (don’t need to with angel food cake!),
b) baked it too long (damn wine!), and
c) didn’t turn it over when I pulled it out of the oven.
The result is this ugly smooshed thing which tastes pretty good if you eat it with your eyes closed.
I want a re-match.
